Maggie Friedman, the Story Editor at "Dawson’s Creek, grew up in a town
outside of Philadelphia. Though there was a time when she was certain she
would spend her life following the Grateful Dead, living in a van, and making
her own clothes, one day she ran out of gas and lost her thimble and realized
there was something missing…
Maggie searched all over for the missing piece, continuing her nomadic
lifestyle throughout college by attending three different schools in four
years (Bard, in upstate New York; Goddard, in Vermont; and The New School for
Social Research in New York City). During this time, Maggie studied fiction
writing and poetry and feminist film theory, and attended far too many Phish
shows. After graduation, she headed for California, and grad school at the
American Film Institute. Upon getting her M.F.A. in the ever-useful field of
screenwriting, Maggie landed her first gig on Kevin Williamson’s short lived
fall 1999 drama, "Wasteland." When the show was sadly and rather quickly
cancelled, it was on to "Dawson’s Creek." This is certainly not the last
stop for Maggie Friedman. She and her boyfriend (who has a very attractive
Adam’s apple and shares Maggie’s affinity for "The Simpsons") will certainly
travel to the far corners of the world (as they did during last season’s
hiatus, on their whirlwind tour of Morocco, Spain, France, England, and
Greece). However, until the day when she embarks on the next Great Novel,
Maggie is content working on her screenplays and putting words in the mouths
of America’s mouthiest teens.
Maggie has spectacularly long, curly hair. This is amusing because Maggie is
allergic to cats and recently acquired a special breed of kitten that only
has one layer of hair (and looks vaguely like an alien) as opposed to three,
thus eliminating an allergic reaction. Who knew that there were so many
layers? Maggie Friedman knew.
Maggie’s "Dawson’s Creek" episodes include #318 "Neverland," #322 "The
Anti-Prom," and #405 "A Family Way."
